I've lived in Alabama for 16 years. I'm 18 years old. Alabama can be a nice state at times, when it comes to football and [hospitality]. But if you even dare to mention anything that goes against the bible or the [republicans], you might get shot.
There are rednecks, racists, and an overwhelming amount of [black people].
But, if one took the time to look into the state and it's standings today, one might realize that this state is no longer what it used to be. There are more and more schools that are teaching from an education point of view, and not a religion-filled point of view. Yes, there are schools where religion is the foundation. But most of the schools, public, magnet, and private, are [branching out] and showing the students how to accept everything and everyone and to live life THEIR way and not someone elses' way. There are democrats living here, contrary to popular belief. There are goths, emos, gangsters, scene kids, indie kids, and all the rest of the stereotypes here too.

If you want to find a place where there are a lot of nice people who only act friendly to you if you're nice to them, or if you want to find a place where there aren't that many big name attractions, where you can live a life of solitude, then I recomend Alabama.
But if you want to live somewhere where you can be accepted no matter who you are, [what you are], where you're from and why you're there, then I suggest you go to the north, west, or upper east.
