A church located in Topeka, Kansas headed by pastor Fred Phelps. It's made up of about 100 members (most of whom are members of Phelps' family) who take the bible as the EXACT word of God. They believe that society in general is doomed because of our openness and tolerance of [homosexuality] which makes God hate us. They've become infamous for picketing the funerals of US soliders who died in Iraq and [Afghanistan] because they fight for a country that tolerates [homosexuals]. They praise their deaths as God's infallable judgement and God's wrath for a society of, as they put it, fags and fag enablers (people who tolerate gays). Surprisingly, most of the church members are very educated, Fred Phelps even was a civil rights lawyer. They've also targeted groups of people besides gays such as the Swedish, the Irish, Jews, Catholics, Muslims, and countless others. Pastor Phelps has also been involved in many political activities, [running] for several political positions in the state of Kansas as a Democrat.
