A character on Daria known for her artistic abilities and quick wit which gets her friendly with Daria. In the first episode "The Esteemers" Daria meets Jane in a self esteem class. Daria encourages Jane to take the final to get out of the class with her, and they both succeed. [Ever] since, they have been [best friends]. When Jane got her first boyfriend in "Janes Addiction" Daria was mad at Jane for spending so much time with him, she also seemed a little jealous. Later on in the season on the episode "Dye! Dye! Dye! My Darling" Tom gets bored with Jane and attracted to Daria. Daria steps into his car towards the end of the episode and they wind up kissing. Daria tells Jane [eventually], and Jane feels like she cant forgive Daria. They talk about it later on and resolve their problems. Daria winds up getting bored of Tom as well and dumps him. Daria and Jane still remain [best friends] despite their ups and downs.
