Designed by Gordon B. Ingram, the MAC (Military Armament Corporation) series machine pistols were first designed in 1964. It is a simple machine pistol with few moving parts (making for easy [maintenance]) and a low cost of manufacture. The model 10 (AKA MAC-10) uses .45 ACP rounds, while the model 11A1 uses .380 ACP rounds and the model 11/9 is uses 9mm rounds. The MAC-11 series boasts a greater rate of fire due to the less powerful rounds, and can empty its impressive magazine in 1.57 seconds. It is essentially a spray and pray weapon on auto fire, since the rate of fire makes [controlling] the recoil (especially in the .45 cal series) extremely difficult. Its compact size, light weight, [high caliber], large magazine, and blistering rate of fire make it an extremely lethal weapon with great stopping power in tight quarters
