Long Island is a suburb of [New York City]. Generally the further out east you get the less dense the population gets. There is more to Long Island than the Hamptons! *gasp* There are also much more people there than snobby [white people] in rich towns. I've lived here my whole life and we have awesome beaches if you're willing to go past the crowded obvious ones, some really nice towns with good schools, and a lot of history. But we also have some really crappy towns that would be "ghetto" no matter where you put them (roosevelt, some parts of hempstead), there's a very high cost of living here for the mostly middle class population, and the snobby people in the rich towns suck. Long Island is like a suburban city one could suppose. People who do not live here or who have [never been] here shouldn't assume we all think we are better.
