1) A reference to the motion picture film, "The Big Lebowski." The 'rug' in the expression refers to any coveted possession, tangable or ideological, regardless of whether or not it 'ties the room together.' Therefore, to hypothetically urinate on such a possession would be to corrupt and/or disgrace it; ruin it. 2) The act of actually urinating upon an owner's rug.
