Breakbeat driven techno/house music from 1990-1994. This music uses breakbeats, clean sub bass, [high pitched] catchy riffs, moody strings, and often times sped up R&B lyrics which sound like chipmonks. In 1994 'Ardkore split into Jungle and Happyhardcore. 'Ardkore was the name of the style as pronounced by the British. It was actually spelt "Hardcore" however this becomes very confusing as "Hardcore" in the USA means Gabba as well as [Death Metal]. Author Simon Reynolds calls this music 'Ardkore in his books "Energy Flash" and "[Generation] Ecstasy".
