There are two types of [cheerleaders] Type A: These girls (or guys I suppose) are very talented. They've most likely been doing gymnastics for a long time. They're extremley flexible, they can do flips and whatnot, and they're fun to watch. They deserve credit for pleasing the crowd. Unfortunatly, type A [cheerleaders] are brought down by... Type B: These girls make the team when there are not enough talented girls [interested] to make up a whole squad. They are either preps who want to be "cute" in the little skirts, wannabes who think they'll become popular, or in some cases average girls who just dont have the talent for it. They are usually placed [in the back] where they cant be seen as well, they dont do anything impressive, and basically bring the team down. [Cheerleaders] seem to be very defensive of cheerleading being a sport (as you can tell from this page). I could argue it either way. I'd consider it more of a [performance] but good cheerleading does involve gymnastics so I have to give them that. They (being some who have written on here) also seem to have this idea that anyone who bad mouths cheerleading didnt make the squad or is jealous and couldnt do half the stuff a cheerleader could. These girls need to realize something, Everyone is NOT jealous of you. Thats exactly where the bad stereotypes come from so if you want them to stop, stop being so self centered. As for the not being able to do half the stuff a cheerleader can do, I'm a dancer and I can do half the stuff cheerleaders can do. And if someone couldn't do that stuff, SO WHAT. It doesnt mean they have to like cheerleading
