Nowadays, the term Latino is used to describe somebody who originates from a Spanish-speaking country in Latino America. Some things to take note about Latinos is that ANYONE can be Latino regardless of race, because Latino is an emphasizer of ethnicity. From a pale-skinned ginger from Mexico to a dark-skinned curlyhead from Puerto Rico, we are all Latinos whose land was colonized by the Spaniards. (Except for the Guianas and Brazil because they were colonized by the Portuguese and British. As a result, they’re associated with South America, but not LATINO America) Second note, no, Spaniards are not Latino. They are Hispanic because they’re also a Spanish-speaking country, but they are not Latino—they’re Europeans. Third note, no, the French and the Italians and whoever else is European with Latin roots—they’re not Latino either! They are Latin, yes, but that is a separate term and they do not originate from Latino America. (Nor do they speak Spanish.) Aaand that sums up a Latino.
