A chiobu is Singaporean slang for someone who is addicted to the internet, often to their own detriment. Chiobus are described as lonely, rude, and often make up dramatic details about their lives that aren't even true just so they get attention on the internet. Chiobus are very fickle with their [internet friends], once you no longer serve a purpose to them, they often turn on you and try to make a spectacle of you online to detract from their own actions. The slang term was coined on an [internet forum] two years ago due to an infamous case of a "Singaporean" man pretending to be married and rich who ended up being a poor [American man] in real life. When called out, he turned on each of his "friends" and tried to post threads about them to the controversial internet gossip forum KiwiFarms using alt accounts. So, in short, "chiobu" essentially means a faker or liar, similar to what the slang term "snake" would be in the English language.
