The Sony AIBO, is a robotic dog produced by the Sony [Electronics] company from 1999-2006 and recently came back in 2018. The first Sony AIBO to release was the ERS-110 in 1999 it was sold in a small batch and was only available to purchase on Sony’s website. Later, sony released the ERS-111 which fixed multiple issues on the 110. Next, in 2000 sony released the ERS-210 which had multiple hardware improvements over the ERS-11X models including more ways to [communicate]. This model also had a variety of software for it. Later in 2001 Sony released the ERS-31X models which included the ERS-311 (AKA Latte) ERS-312 (AKA macaron) and later the ERS-31L. These models were cheaper than other AIBO’s and had a bearlike appearance. Later in 2001 sony released the ERS-220 which had the same exact hardware as an ERS-210 but was designed to look more [futuristic] and nothing [like a dog]. The ERS-220 can run almost all ERS-210 software and even had some [exclusive] titles of it’s own. Next in 2003 Sony released the ERS-7 which had more of a doglike appearance and came with a dot matrix display instead of face lights, this allowed the ERS-7 to be more expressive than older AIBO’s. In 2006 Sony discontinued the AIBO line due to cost cutting efforts and AIBO repair services ended in 2014. Later, in 2018 Sony brought back the aibo line with completely new marketing with the ERS-1000. The ERS-1000 had two OLED screens for eyes as well as a ceiling tracking camera for [navigation].
