The word "fandoogly" was introduced into the Aussie lexicon by Ward "Pally" Austin, a music radio jock in Sydney during the 1960s & 1970s. Known for the development & use of catchy fun-phrases on air, one of his most famous was a "rickapoodie & a fandoogly", broadly used to describe something that was going to be "fresh, exciting & new". Arriving on air for his DJ shift, it was not uncommon for Austin to scream out to his audience "...it's time for a rickapoodie & fandoogly" setting high [expectations] even though the audience had no clue about what was coming. On its own, the word "fandoogly" can also be used when you discover something new & [don't know] [what it is] called. think of the proper word.
