A cervitaur is a specific variation of the classic mythological creature centaur; having the body of a deer, elk or moose - or any other animal under the family Cervidae - instead of a horse. They are more commonly referred to as "deertaurs" "elktaurs" or simply as "deer centaurs". Apart from them having the lower body of a deer, they are also more often than not depicted with more animalistic characteristics compared to their centaur cousins, such as having antlers, deer ears or a darker nose tip (reminicent of a deer's snout). They are also often depicted with the spotted coat patterns of fawns, irregardless of if the character is adolecent or not. The word cervitaur comes from a combination of the words "centaur" and "cervidae"
