Put quite simply. It's Japanese animation, An animated series/movie with the "Made in Japan" lable. But, it isn't that simple. Anime usually has a far deeper storyline than western cartoons, wich usually rely on gags and humor. That doesn't mean that if something is anime, it is good(I [personally] would never like to see or hear the word pokemon again). Also, because Japanese television isn't as censored as American TV,(come to [think of it], [I don't think] any kind of television is as censored as USA's, I'll check on that)so many "concerned parents" believe that anime is nothing but violent porno, which is not true.
