[Alice in wonderland syndrome] (AIWS/AWS), also called Todd syndrome is a neurological and harmless syndrome where someone’s surroundings are distorted and people and/or objects might be hallucinated smaller (micropsia), bigger (macropsia), further away (teleopsia) or closer (pelopsia). These episodes usually last 10-20 minutes and can be triggered by migraines, nervousness, specific lighting and fevers. Side symptoms during an episode (can) include dizzyness, sensory [hallucinations], body dysmorphia in limbs, difficulty to focus and relax your eyes and losing sense of time. Alice in wonderland is not easily diagnosed due to the fact many cases happen to be in children, who are usually too afraid to tell a parent/adult or aren’t understood when describing their [hallucinations]. Most children grow out of their Alice in wonderland syndrome at the end of their childhood.
