An "Airplanista" is a person that is very much into aviation, airplanes and being a pilot. While not all Airplanistas are pilots, all pilots are Airplanistas. The Airplanista eats, sleeps, talks and lives aviation and airplanes 24/7, hangs out at mostly small municipal airports with other Airplanistas, and his/her world stops [momentarily] when an airplane flies by overhead as he/she MUST stare out it in complete wonder at the magic that is flight. The term #Avgeek is closely related to Airplanista - an Avgeek is usually an Airplanista who is also very much into tech either by interest or as a career. Both Airplanistas and Avgeeks [generally] follow the same people on [social media], read the same aviation news site, attend the same airshows such as EAA AirVenture Oshkosh, and belong to the same advocacy groups such as NBAA, AOPA, EAA and HAI.
