Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb, was an Indian jurist and political leader who led the Dalit movement and established a new school of Buddhism (Navayana) by adopting and reinterpreting the egalitarian values of the imagined Buddhism of [the colonial] Protestant-Victorian mind. He was the son of Ramji Sakpal who served in the [British Indian] army. He is believed to be the principal architect of the Indian constitution. He is also known for propagating many ahistorical and untruthful views about the past and Indian religions that continue to influence [contemporary] politics and religious identities in India. Though he is widely recognised as an anti-British nationalist, he collaborated with the Britishers on many issues.
