The name that countries of hispanic tongue, especially the Argentine folk, give to the Falkland Islands. It derives from the french name given to those same islands, "Îles Malouines". To the UN, the name of this archipelago must be documented as "Falkland Island (Malvinas)". Most, if not all, of latin america countries, including non-spanish speakers like Brazil, still prefer to use Malvinas instead of Falklands. While some people argue that this is because of the military conflict between Argentina and the UK over those islands, the ussage of the name Malvinas is mostly because that name just feels more natural, easier to say, and it's culturally-adopted for a latin american.
