Delena is a ship name for 'The Vampire Diaries' Damon Salvatore and [Elena] Salvatore née Gilbert.

Elena starts out dating Stefan Salvatore when him and his "evil" brother return to mystic falls. Damon cares to her but is still in love with his and Stefans ex (and Elena's evil [doppelganger]), [Katherine Pierce]/Katerina Petrova, the vampire who turned him and his brother. He learns that Katherine only loves Stefan and Damon falls for Elena. However, because he's been hurt so many times he pushes people away, to make sure it doesn't happen again. This means that others see him as evil but Elena realises that he is a good, loving and caring guy at heart, just broken. Throughout the first few seasons he lashes out when things don't go his way and he makes mistakes that hurt Elena. This at times causes her to hate him but the hatred is only temporary and she him and sees the good in him after while. They go from enemies, to friends, best friends and eventually to lovers.

After facing many problems,including a sire bond, prison world, erased memories and a [sleeping beauty] spell Damon and Elena reunite, get married, start a family and live out the rest of their ( now human) lives together until they die and find peace.
Elena saved Damon from himself and he challenged and excited her. They overcame so many obstacles proving their unconditionally love for each other and in the end it was that love that conquered all.
