Culpeper County, Virginia is one of America's top ten small towns, was named after Lord Thomas Culpeper, who inherited it from his father John. It was offically was established in 1700's. Culpeper, once called Farifax, and renamed by Lord Farifax the sixth, once consisted of 5,282,000 acres. This land was confiscated by colonists when the [Revolutionary war] began. Culpeper once consisted of Orange, Madison, Spotsylvania, and Rappahannock Counties. Wow that's huge!

Ever wonder what's up with the minute men bit? Well in at the Virginia Convention held May, 1775 in [Richmond, Va]. The colony was divided into 16 districts instructed to "raise" and discipline a battalion of men "to March at a minutes notice"

As far a Urban legends go, Culpeper certainly has a few of those. For example "the 29 stalker" is rumored to reside in town and be the son of a wealthy landowner, however much is left for speculation.

More fact than fiction Culpeper contains a Superfund cleanup site that is nearly 20 years past the expected date of completion.

And an officer shot an unarmed older lady for a reason that will forever be [unknown]. This officer is currently a free man.
