Ice hockey move made from behind the net where the player has the puck behind the net and fakes a pass (on his forehand) up the boards without touching the puck. This usually causes the defending player (in front of the net) to move in the direction allowing the player with the puck to start skating up ice [on the other side] or to make an unimpeded pass. Keith Yandle (NHL defenseman) is especially known for this move--for some reason when it is [successful] the player who has executed the move is supposed to yell 'sonk' after making the play, and indeed Yandle will often do this following a successful sonk. (Check out Yandle double sonking DiPauli in early January, 2020--UD won't allow a link, [unfortunately])
