The GT-R name first came out as a trim level on the Skyline 2000 which was called the Skyline 2000 GT-R. The Nissan Skyline GT-R was never brought to America and so you couldn't buy a Skyline GT-R until they were at least 25 years old. Later Skyline GT-Rs came with a turbocharged RB26DETT inline-six engine making around 290-320 horsepower and the ATTESA E-TS four wheel drive system. The GT-R name was put to rest after the Skyline GT-R (R34) because Nissan was in major debt. After the Nissan Revival Plan, Nissan started on a new GT-R. This time the GT-R was its own model instead of a trim level. This GT-R had a turbocharged V6 engine called the VR38DETT making 480 horsepower and all-wheel-drive on release (2008). The 2019 GT-R is much more powerful with its VR38DETT being pushed to 565 horsepower and with a Nismo version that has 600 horsepower. The regular GT-R stock can go from 0-60 mph in just 2.9 seconds while the Nismo version can go from 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. This car can reach a top speed of 196 mph or 315 kph. With a price of $100,000 the GT-R is a bargain, any car with similar performance are much more expensive while any car near its price are blown away from its performance.
