Colloquial slang Isizulu name for "Ghost". The term "Uguboo" [originated] in the in the 1970's when the television came to South Africa. South Africa's television broadcasting was limited at first and relied upon creating local content or over dubbing American TV and movies. Thus English, afrikaans and Isizulu broadcasts were made to air at [designated] times everyday. The mornings always started with cartoons. Many zulu children would tune in and watch "Casper, the [friendly ghost]" over dubbed in Isizulu every morning. The title of the show was also reeditted in Zulu. Now, there is no zulu word for ghost, so it was decided to make ghost into Uguboo. The full titled was born. ECasper, eh eh Uguboo.
