Feminism is the belief and movement for women’s equal rights. Many of you may think women have “equal” rights however that is far from true. Women, for one, get paid $.75 for every $1 a man makes. Second, women not only are [extremely] [sexualized] by society, but they are pressed to [believe that] it is [supposed to] be that way. Women are taught they must shave, wear an [uncomfortable] bra, wear makeup, and look a certain way. How is this right? It’s true men also have standards to live up to but they are far less forced and strict as standards for women are. Third, we are told to be sexy and hot then we are slut shamed for it. Men constantly beg women for pictures or sex then go tell their friends about it and slut shame them. Fourth, women are scared of men. We constantly live in fear of walking alone or in small groups of girls at night, or going to the club and being picked up or groped when we don’t want to be, we feel scared when there is a noise and we’re home alone, and so many other instances. This is NOT okay. We should feel free and safe in our country and the comfort of our own homes however we constantly hear of raping and kidnappings and it makes us never feel secure. Constantly men use feminine qualities as an [insult]. We need to show that women are strong and we won’t put up with this. That is just a small reason feminism exsists. Join to movement to change all of that, to make life easier and better for women, and to show everyone is equal.
