The prohibitive inability to interface competently with digital and electronic devices, typically but not always associated with the pre-digital native generation; often erroneously attributed to pre-millennials. Not necessarily dependent on age, but manifests more obviously in a generation unfamiliar with electronic devices. Symptoms of the digital ceiling extent beyond computer literacy and competency, into institutional and attitudinal deficits toward technology; companies that do not recognize the threats and advantages of the digital world. Someone that has hit the 'electric ceiling' is said to be limited by a profound lack of capacity regarding understanding technology, and it's implementation. They are superseded by a generation of people with an intuitive comprehension of computers and technical aptitude. The world is currently entering a phase wherein digital natives (having come of age) are assuming key positions; which serves to magnify the effects of the 'Electric ceiling' among their counterparts.
