A now dried up word used to describe anyone who likes anime or japanese popculture even [to the extent] of being the equivalent to japanese otakus who cant be called weaboos(even though many japanese otakus are characterized as acting exactly the same). Around 2010 and before weaboo was intended to mean anyone who thought they were japanese and knew a lot about the culture when they didnt, but was commonly just used on [introverted] "dorks" who was "obsessed" with japanese popculture. Nowadays the word is mainly or only used by people who like japanese popculture and believe they are the TRUE otakus. They generally believe that they are [better than] said "weaboo" because they think their taste in anime is better or that they are less "weeby" for actually trying to learn japanese. The word can be also shortened to "weeb" in short.
