A [terminology] used in [video games] that use timed objectives. It refers to the countdown-process of an objective which contributes towards the victory of one team without this team defending it. Usually a player has to flip an objective (by standing nearby or activating it) which then triggers a countdown. If the player then decides to leave the objective the countdown of the objective is considered a ghostcap because no player is present to either flip the objective back or to defend it. In Planetside specifically it is refereed to a base that is ticking down towards being captured without any players being present. While looking at the map it seems a base is being captured by a ghost because the player can see it is completely empty. It is considered as griefing because [the defenders] need to make the effort to visit the base to flip the point back.
