When you chat with someone you see in public that you know.. Anyway depending on were you lived it can be awkward... Suburbanites feel the most awkward about any situation were they have to do small talk, and actually be social with a complete stranger or someone that know, and saw randomly.. YOu see suburbanites hate things that are random they want order, and want things in a straight line. Even the pebbles put on their driveways are in some damn pattern or sperated by colour. If you live in a place lets say oklahoma city... WEll most likely you will see someone you know from somewhere, or you havent seen in a long time.. The culture here would be to talk because if oyu odn't talk people will think you are a prick, and rightfully so. It is rude to not do so otherwise... Of course you must olitely let them know that the short conversation is using up too much of their time
