A person will identify as apromantic if they have the ability to feel romantic attraction and/or love, but when the feelings are reciprocated by another person, the feelings diminish greatly, or even completely vanish. The term uses the Greek prefix ap- or apo- meaning “away from” or “detached. Other terms such as lithromantic and akoiromantic are also used, but there is less controversy surrounding this term.
