A person used to cash fake checks. The person is usually given a very small amount of money for their part in the scheme. At the same time, the Guinea Pig takes all the blame if caught since they are the ones on camera and the fake checks are typically made with the Guinea Pig's real name. Since the person knew they were committing a crime in the first place, they can't go to the authorities to report the real culprits for fear of getting caught. Usually poor, young, ignorant girls are targeted and coerced into committing the crime. Sometimes, the scheme is carried out similar to a scam email where the victim legitimately thinks the check is real and they are helping another person in need. However, even if the person is unaware they are trying to cash a fake check and they get away with the money, the bank or institution who cashed the check has the person's name and will charge the person for the amount they cashed out. This will ruin the person's credit and get the person banned most large banks for life. Also, if the victim tries to report the scam, there is a low chance the authorities will believe the victim since it's hard to prove they didn't know the check was fake.
