A term to describe two people who are more than friends, but due to certain circumstances cannot be dating who have a strong emotional commitment to one another but are far away and often beyond physical access most of the time. Benefits include being able to whine, pamper, understand, defend, help, talk, whisper, use inside jokes with each other, etc. They bear every semblance to a real couple, except they are not one.
