1. The 'battle to the death' competition from the Hunger Games book trilogy by Suzanne Collins. The basic premiss is that all that is left of America is a wealthy 'Capitol' surrounded by the 12 'districts'. The Hunger Games see a male and female, teenage 'tribute' from each of the districts battle until only one survives. 2. The event itself as seen in the books and films. Also referred to as just 'the Games'. 3. Now also in use as a description for any fiercely competitive/violent event.
