Sutton is an attractive middle class town in outer south London with easy access to central London. It has a Surrey post code, but has officially been part of London since 1965. The town has a high-achieving state Grammar school for boys, and a private school for girls. It is a regional shopping hub with major stores and plenty of restaurants and coffee houses. The town has quite an arty side with a theatre and a lot of outdoor, public art. These include two sculptures, an armillary, and three building-height murals - one of Sutton's twin towns, one a heritage mural mosaic showing nearby sites of historical importance and, last but not least for fans of neo soul, one of Erykah Badu, no less.
