A ring that can mean a few different things. It is normally only given in the teenage years. After that it tends to be looked at as a semi-immature act if given in adulthood. The ring is normally on the cheaper side, with gemstones being more popular in them than engagement rings. Any diamonds are usually small and not of the highest quality, though they are legitimate diamonds. Normally, it is seen as a commitment for teens, a promise that (usually) a guy makes to his significant other, promising that he will be faithful, that he will always be there, etc. Some see it as a pre-engagement ring, where it isn't just the above, but also a promise to marry them when they get the money, and when they are ready for marriage. it can also be given from a male best friend to a female best friend as a promise to always be there for them - though this case is a bit more rare, and can often be misunderstood. The ring can also be given for religious reasons to a female from a family member as a promise to stay a virgin until marriage. It is also called a purity ring.
