Noun 1. A term used to describe a man who has just endured a major financial hardship and is so strapped for cash that he has lost all will to live. While he may also be "broken down" emotionally, spiritually or automotively, the primary focus of the "broke" aspect in this case is monetarily. He may also be bored, listless or have a bleak outlook on life, much like a dog that has lost the ability to use his penis.
