Jokes that are characterized by lack of comedic author, a usually cheesy or "punny" punchline, and prevalence throughout most populations. Their simplicity and general appeal to most people allows for rapid passing along. Most "joke books" are collections of street jokes. Although acceptable in public social situations, comedians are often shunned for any use of them, as it is seen as lazy and unoriginal.
