To be content, fulfilled, comfortable and at ease with oneself; assuming one’s personality and body. The skin is considered as a sort of envelop in which the personality is contained. Thus, the expression evokes harmony between mind and body. It is a literal translation of the French expression: “se sentir bien dans sa peau”, which can also be used with the verb “to be”, i.e., to be well in one’s skin (“être bien dans sa peau”). The expression can also be used in the negative way to refer to any sort of anxiety, depression, or general dissatisfaction with one’s life.
