Kitsch is a style of mass-produced art or design using cultural icons. The term is generally reserved for unsubstantial or gaudy works, or works that are calculated to have popular appeal. Slang: tasteless, lowbrow, tacky. a tacky or lowbrow quality or condition. Technically, Kitsch is a term that has been used to categorize art that is considered an inferior copy of an existing style. The term "kitschy" is also used more loosely in referring to any art/thing/or person that is pretentious or in bad taste, and also commercially produced items that are considered trite or crass.
