West Valley City is the second largest municipality in the State of Utah, with a population of nearly 130,000 residents. It is located west of Salt Lake City (Utah's capitol), has an area of almost 36 square miles, and plays hosts to some of the largest businesses in the State of Utah. In 2012, West Valley City was awarded a Best of State Award; these awards are granted to the best private or public organization in the state, that exemplifies the highest level of professionalism and expertise in a variety of areas. In 2012, West Valley City was awarded the Best of State Award for Community Involvement. This award comes directly from years of work and effort in developing itself into the most diverse and developed city in Utah.
