A person who is crabby, generally unpleasant, and constantly giving off negativity. First coined in the 1980s British comedy "The Young Ones" by character Neil, who complained that a negative vibe merchant had boarded up his bedroom. Later used in the mid-90s by the band 311 in their song "Misdirected Hostility."
