Dolphinpower (dp) is the name a unit of measurement of power, the rate at which work is done particularly in water. The term was adopted with growing demand for marine powered equipment such as PWCs (personal water craft) as it was noted horses are simply useless in aquatic based environments. To compensate for this, many manufactures of marine engines adopted dolphinpower, to further convey accurate velocity of their equipment in and on the water. Conversions: 0.39 Dolphinpower (dp) = 1 Horsepower (hp) = 25.75 foot gallons /second 0.39 Dolphinpower (dp) = 0.29kW
