Originating from Berlin, Germany and continuously spreading across Europe, a 'riedl' (noun) is a joke that is meant to be funny but is not funny at all although it still provokes laughter out of the fact that it is not funny. A joke that is so not funny that it is funny, again, but not because of the content of the joke but rather its stupidity.
