A comedic term referring to lack of profanity or other cheap ploys during a stand-up set. Also refers to someone saying something wholly appropriate to you in mixed company, for example in the workplace. Working it clean is a sign of maturity, professionalism, and awareness. Especially relevant for young professionals who's weekend lifestyle is far different from the serious role they portray in the workplace. An opposite of working it clean is Going Blue.
