Alpha Kappa Omega is a Filipino-based fraternity that is guided by the principles of the Katipunan, an organization founded in the Philippines. The organization follows the virtues of Strength, Loyalty, Pride, Wisdom and Courage. They are a diverse group of men that are dedicated to the goals of academic excellence, cultural awareness, social responsibility, and community leadership. Their chapters have been committed to being active members of their campuses and the greater community. Alpha Kappa Omega was founded on March 31, 1996 at the campus of Cal State Hayward (East Bay). The founders of Alpha Kappa Omega consist of Jeff Genove, Oliver Martin, Ryan Flores, Vince Macasieb, Marlone Tablante and Ben Basto. On January 21, 2001 Alpha Kappa Omega was chartered over to the campus of San Jose State University by Aris Austria, Jeff Amboy, Marius Banatao, and Tediocarm Miranda.
