A person known for their compulsive deception, duplicitous nature and ability to manipulate, traits usually exhibited during the commission of adultery or consumption of alcohol. The word originates from the French word charlatan, in which a person makes elaborate claims of skill or knowledge, and the English word story, in which an event or series of events (in this case fictitious) are recounted.
