When in a conversation with friends you check wikipedia for a fact on your smartphone and become so engrossed in unnecessary links (intering the wikipedian loop) related to the original query you withdraw completely from the conversation. So oblivious to your friend’s attempts to reengage you, they resort to sending a text to your phone as the only means to contact you directly and jog you out of your stupor. AKA the smartphone intervention when IMDB or other sites cause the same withdrawl from actual human social interaction.
