A verb, usually used in the past tense, describing the behavior of waitstaff validating identification for the purpose of age verification before serving alcohol. This variation of the standard "carding" procedure is used when an overly polite waiter or waitress asks for the identification of a possibly underage patron, then subsequently requests identification from a patron clearly over the legal drinking age.
