A Marut is what any salty Marine calls a younger, less experienced Marine. It is a way of showing you dominance over another less fortunate Marine. Subsequently, It comes from the combination of the two words "Marine" and "Recruit". Common miss conception is to spell this word Maruit but only a true Marut would spell it with the "i". Most commonly heard amongst young Marines in either SOI or MCT. You can find Marut at the Geiger Fitness Center at almost anytime of the day or at the MCX on MCAS New River on any Sunday around mid day. Note: The definition of "Maruit" is an actually Marine Corps Recruit.
