A term used to define newspapers/other media which are used by their owner to promote their interests instead of using them to perpetuate reality. The term originated in early independent India, where most of the press was owned by jute industry barons and was used to further their own interests. Also, the word 'Jute' is pronounced almost like the Hindi word 'Jooth' meaning falsehood or untruth.
