A psychological device, evolutionary in origin and commonly experienced by young women, that induces anxiety over being labeled a slut as a result of sexually promiscuous or excessively flirtatious behavior. The syndrome helps women to not be prominently identified as promiscuous individuals within their tribe/community increasing their chances of attracting better sexual partners by providing them a higher degree of certainty towards the paternity of their child.
